Helping Families Stay Close

Ronald McDonald House® is McDonald’s charity of choice. The first Ronald McDonald House Charities was formed in memory of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, who believed in giving back to the communities where we serve.

Each year, about S$500,000 from Happy Meal® sales goes towards supporting Ronald McDonald House® Singapore. We also make it easy for our customers to offer a helping hand via the round-up or donation tabs on the Self-Ordering Kiosks.

Together with our customers, we’re doing our part to help families.

In January 2013, with the support of the Khoo Teck Puat – National University Children’s Medical Institute, the first Ronald McDonald House was built at the National University Hospital (NUH) — a home away from home just steps from the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and High Dependency (HD) ward. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the House offers eligible families complimentary accommodation, with ensuite bedrooms, a living and dining area, kitchenette, and laundry facilities.

Since then, Ronald McDonald House has grown to reach even more families through three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms — welcoming spaces within the hospital where caregivers can rest and recharge close to their child:

  1. Two Family Rooms at NUH, beside the PICU/HD ward (opened Jan 2016) and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  2. The Institute of Mental Health (IMH), supporting children and caregivers at the Child Guidance Clinic (opened Jan 2018)

Together, the House and Family Rooms have provided more than 17,300 nights of accommodation and served over 9,950 families since 2013. To this day, we stand by Ronald McDonald House in their commitment to help families with sick children stay close to each other and the care and resources they need.

Ronald McDonald House

Located just steps from the National University Hospital’s (NUH) Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and High Dependency (HD) ward, the Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home where families can stay close to their hospitalised child throughout treatment and recovery. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the House offers eligible families complimentary accommodation, with four ensuite bedrooms, a comfortable living and dining area, kitchenette, and laundry facilities. By removing the burden of travel, accommodation costs, and time spent away from the bedside, families can focus on what matters most — supporting their child’s healing journey. We believe that when a child is hospitalised, the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed.

Ronald McDonald Family Room

Welcoming spaces within the hospital where parents and caregivers can step away from the clinical environment without leaving their child’s side. Families can enjoy a warm meal, take a shower, connect with loved ones over complimentary Wi-Fi, or simply pause and regain their strength before returning to the bedside. Two Family Rooms at NUH sit beside the PICU/HD ward and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) — the NICU Family Room also offers two private lactation rooms for new mothers — while the Family Room at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) provides an oasis of calm for children and caregivers attending the Child Guidance Clinic.
