McDonald’s Singapore is giving away approximately 120,000 free Egg McMuffins in a single day on March 17 in its second year of “National Breakfast Day”. Back by popular demand, McDonald’s “National Breakfast Day” is a regional breakfast initiative across Asia, Middle East and Africa where participating restaurants will give away 1000 free Egg McMuffins during breakfast hours on a first-come, first-served basis.

This year, in an effort to get even more customers energised about breakfast, ‘All Day Breakfast’ will be served in 124 restaurants across Singapore.McDonald’s Singapore is also looking to set a national record for the “Largest Number of Muffins Given Away” with more than 120,000 muffins to be handed out for free. Each participating outlet will be giving away 1,000 free Egg McMuffins to customers on a first-come, first-served basis.

“We were so encouraged by our customers’ resounding response to National Breakfast Day last year that we are bringing it back again to remind people about waking up to better mornings with breakfast,” said Phyllis Cheung, Managing Director for McDonald’s Singapore. “And we are looking forward to creating even more breakfast excitement by offering ‘All Day Breakfast’ for the first time, and providing people with fresh surprises they can wake up to every morning with our new McDonald’s Surprise Alarm app.”

Waking up to surprises

National Breakfast Day also extends beyond 17 March itself with the launch of the McDonald’s Surprise Alarm  App, a free alarm application for iOS and Android to give users another reason to wake up for breakfast.

Users can set alarms using this app, and once a day, they stand to receive a surprise from McDonald’s. These surprises include a free cup of coffee, music downloads, and fun images or videos.

The McDonald’s Surprise Alarm App will be available for download on 17 March 2014 from Apple’s App Store and Google Play, and users will stand to win surprises from 18 March 2014 onwards.

Extending the simple pleasures of breakfast into the community

This year, McDonald’s will be extending National Breakfast Day into the community to give everyone a good start to the day. McDonald’s will be partnering Tampines North Grassroots Organisation to provide 1000 free Egg McMuffins for needy families within the Tampines North Constituency. The families will be receiving the 1000 Egg McMuffin vouchers for redemption from 17 March.
