Singapore,

SINGAPORE, 8 May 2014 – From September, McCafé will be giving young coffee lovers the opportunity to rediscover coffee with the launch of a series of complimentary Coffee Appreciation Workshops. A move to kickstart McCafé’s long-term commitment to celebrate and champion creativity amongst Youths, these workshops will inspire participants with a space where they have the freedom to create and express themselves with coffee as their canvas.

From discovering the history of coffee and the origin of McCafé, to handling the coffee machine, watching a latte art presentation, and trying first-hand Cappuccino preparation, participants will be learning from McCafé’s team of talented baristas in sessions led by Hilmi Mohamed, McCafé’s Master Trainer, who has 10 years of experience in the coffee industry.

Participants will also get to learn about the different types of coffee around the world, and try their hand at handling the coffee machine and milk frothing. To conclude the three-hour workshop, they will get to express their creativity through a latte art and plate art session.

Workshops are kept intimate, and accept six to 10 people per session.

“For centuries, people have been drinking coffee and we know that it has the ability to bring people together. We created this series of Coffee Appreciation Workshops for that very reason and more – to bring together Youths in the community and to allow them to connect and create through their love for coffee. We are committed to encouraging Youths to express themselves and want to inspire coffee lovers on their caffeine journey. We believe that these workshops will be the canvas for their imagination,” said Yvonne Low, Senior Director of Marketing, McDonald’s Singapore.

In addition to the Coffee Appreciation Workshops, McCafé will also be introducing new menu offerings, available from 8 May 2014, including flavoured syrups that will allow customers to have a shot of creative expression by mixing and matching them with their drinks to create unique drinks that they can call their own.

To participate in the McCafé Coffee Appreciation Workshops, Youths aged 16 to 35 years old in the community simply have to drop an email to promotions@sg.mcd.com. Registration will take place from 18 August 2014 to 1 September 2014. The first two workshops will take place on 6 and 13 September, in conjunction with the school holidays and the next two sessions are slated to take place in December 2014.
