McDonald’s Marks Grand Opening Of Remodelled Restaurant With S$10,000 Donation To Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centre

Singapore, January 8, 2007
McDonald’s has unleashed a new campaign and this time the latest “product" is not its premium McCafé coffee or a new breakfast sandwich but its very own employees!

They call it “i-stories" at McDonald’s. That is abbreviated from “i’m lovin it" and “inspirational" stories, and since last Thursday, 17 such stories have taken centre stage at the Raffles and City Hall MRT stations.

“We have been sharing our i-stories in schools and tertiary institutions over the last three years and discovered that they are powerful means to tell stories of real opportunities at McDonald’s. We are immensely proud to celebrate our people excellence i-stories and the endless opportunities for individuals who seek a career with us at the Golden Arches," said Ms Eunice Lee, Director of Human Resource and Development, McDonald’s Restaurants.

The 17 individuals featured in the advertising are:

Jeffrey Tan (Director of Operations; started as crew in 1979)
Victor Ang (Business Consultant; started as crew in 1986)
Shirley Poh (Restaurant Manager; started as crew in 1993)
Sharon Ng (Business Consultant; started as trainee manager in 1991)
Vincent Png (Floor Manager; started as crew in 2004)
Christina Loh (Restaurant Manager; started as crew in 1995)
Christina Ong (Floor Manager; started as crew in 2000)
Desmond Goh (1st Assistant Manager; started as trainee manager in 1997)
Mohd Zaini (1st Assistant Manager; started as trainee manager in 1999)
Dahlia Ahmad (Restaurant Manager; started as crew in 1989)
Rosdiah Gulam (Assistant Manager; started as crew in 1996)
Gan Chong Siew (Field Service Operations Consultant in McDonald’s Oak Brook, USA; started as trainee manager in 1998)
Jeslyn Chia (Business Consultant; started as trainee manager in 1995)
Daneil Lum (Assistant Manager; started as trainee manager in 2003)
Nur Fazillah (Store Activities Representative; started as crew in 2002)
Adeline Ng (Floor Manager; started as crew in 2004)
Fiona Lee (Crew Leader; started as crew in 2005)

From individuals like Jeffery Tan (started as a crew member at McDonald’s first Singapore restaurant in 1979 and now Director of Operations in charge of all restaurants island-wide) to Fiona Lee (student, part-time Service Ambassador and national track and field athlete), these are stories about real people lovin’ it at McDonald’s.

“McDonald’s is all about having people with the “forever young" spirit which brand McDonald’s stands for, people who can take care of customers with polite, attentive and connective service, and who take care of each other as we grow the business together. Above all, this i-stories campaign serves to demonstrate that we value our people – who they are today, who they could be tomorrow,“ said Eunice Lee.

The creative agency for the McDonald’s i-stories campaign is TMP Worldwide and media agency is OMD. The campaign runs April 5 till April 25, 2007.
